I had 4 Z cars run with me from St Louis to Denver, Co...about 870 miles. We were ripping through eastern Colorado when a state trooper going the other way saw us and did a flip. I was in the lead and I told the other cars to take off and we would all meet at the next exit.I dropped my speed to 81 MPH (speed limit is 75). The cop tailed me for some time, but 6 miles over the limit isnt worth the effort to flip on the interstate and chase someone. So, he lost interest. It's embarrassing to see entire convoys of cars get pulled over. It happened to the Gumballers, and the VW guys. It hasnt happened to the Z gang yet. The radios prevent that. I normally roll with the guys who arent afraid of the gas pedal, and so far noone has gotten a ticket yet despite ripping cross country three times. I did however, run into some difficulties on the way to the ZNationals back in March. I rolled with a different group, and one guy's wife would not allow him to go over 75 mph. And this other kid wouldnt take his car over 65. That being said, CHOOSE YOUR GROUPS CAREFULLY! The soccer moms and the minivans will roll at 80. You do not want to match speeds with a landyatch. Either pass them or stay behind. I hope to see some of you on the highway to Daytona.8)
